Corepath

Traffic engineering for multi-vendor backbones

Engineers change IGP metrics on live backbones by hand, over the CLI, without seeing the effect first. Corepath shows the effect first: what moves, what fills up, and what happens if something fails afterwards.
An IGP metric change, before it reaches a routerFour PoPs. Traffic from PoP A to PoP C runs through PoP B. Raising the IGP metric on the link between PoP A and PoP B from 10 to 30 moves that traffic to the path through PoP D.PoP APoP BPoP CPoP DMetric 10 → 30

Who it’s for

Network engineering and NOC teams running multi-vendor IGP backbones who want to change metrics with evidence instead of instinct.

What it does

  • Topology from the routers

OSPF, OSPFv3 and IS-IS databases read from Juniper, Arista, OcNOS, Cisco and MikroTik, plus BGP-LS and BMP feeds, merged into one graph.

  • Paths and failures

Shortest paths with ECMP, backup paths, single points of failure, and any link or router failure simulated in seconds.

  • Changes with a safety net

Metric changes go through approval, are applied commit-confirmed, and roll back by themselves if the router doesn’t hear back.

  • An assistant that only reads

Questions about the network in plain language, answered through a fixed set of read-only tools, with every answer one click from the data behind it.

How it works

  1. Discover

Collectors read IGP and BGP state from every router over NETCONF, SSH, SNMP, BGP-LS and BMP.

  2. Simulate

Propose a metric change and see which paths move and which links fill, now and under every failure.

  3. Approve

A second engineer reviews the change and its simulated effect before anything touches a router.

  4. Apply and verify

The change is committed with automatic rollback, then checked against the topology Corepath sees afterwards.
